Second Narrows Movement Restriction Area Procedures
This is a 30 day pre-publication of the Second Narrows Marine Restricted Area Procedures. These Procedures have been drafted through extensive consultation with a broad range of stakeholders and will replace the existing MRA procedures that form part of Port Metro Vancouver’s harbour operations.
These new procedures represent a higher standard of safety, with the additional objective of increasing the productivity of terminals east of Second Narrows. While the anticipated date for these procedures to take affect is November 1st, 2009, the existing 12.5 meter maximum vessel draught restriction will remain in place until April 12, 2010, by which time the training of pilots and tug master is expected to be completed.
